Research
My research focuses on understanding the physical processes that govern the centre of our Galaxy, with particular emphasis on Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), the supermassive black hole at the heart of the Milky Way. Here is what it looks like:
The proximity to us of this rich and dynamical landscape makes the Galactic Center a unique laboratory for studying accretion physics, stellar dynamics, and General Relativity in the vicinity of supermassive black holes.
As a member of the GRAVITY and GRAVITY+ collaborations, I work closely with high-resolution infrared interferometric data from the GRAVITY instrument at the Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI), to track the motion of stars and hot gas at scales approaching the event horizon of Sgr A*. These observations provide direct tests of relativistic physics and give us insights into how supermassive black holes interact with their environments.
